A soaring duet between Sharon Archer and Cliff Cook reminded the audience Thursday night at Savannah Center that there “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

Archer of the Village of Santo Domingo and Cook of the Village of Sabal Chase clearly were thrilled to be performing the Motown classic that may have marked the peak of the Berry Gordy musical era.

“It’s a song that can literally lift you up,” Archer said shortly before the curtain went up on “Motown Magic.”

The opening night for the show, directed by Villager Carol Greenfield, was Thursday evening. “Motown Magic” also will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Savannah Center.

Toni Booker of the Village of Winifred also lends her considerable talent to the show, including leading a cast dance-along to the joyous classic “Dancing in the Streets.”

The event is a benefit for the American Cancer Society and the Humane Society.

Tickets for Villagers at $18 and general admission is $23.
