Members of the Col. Phillip C. Delong Detachment, Marine Corps League visited the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa on Thursday to interact with the wounded and injured patients and their families.

This month’s visit also included the presentation of a check for $2,500 to Operation Helping Hands, an all-volunteer organization that provides assistance to the patients.
The league also presented a check for $2,500 to Fisher House that provides rooms and food for visiting families of the patients. The money donated was the result of the Rose Program conducted during the month of October at the Publix Stores located in Colony Park, Southern Trace and Mulberry, as well as the Wal-Mart Store on County Road 466.
The Detachment has been conducting these visits to Haley Hospital on a monthly basis and has contributed more than $20,000.
“We extend a special thanks to all The Villages who have donated to our programs,” said Marine Corps League Rose Program Chairman Ralph Hoffmann.
