Services were held Monday for 32-year-old Brian Robert Costello of The Villages, killed one week ago in an early morning traffic accident in Hillsborough County.
Friends and family gathered Monday at St. Mark’s Church in Summerfield. Burial will be at a later date. (You can read his obituary at http://villages-news.com/brian-robert-costello/)
He was the son of Villagers Frederick and Barbara Costello.
Costello has been remembered as a fun-loving Chicago Bears fan. He was raised in the Chicago suburbs.
Costello was a passenger Dec. 23 in a 2013 Kia driven by Chad Arthur Prilliman, 40, of Wildwood.
Prilliman was traveling westbound on SR-574 in the outside lane when he failed to stop for a red traffic signal at the intersection of I-4 and SR-574, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
As a result, his vehicle entered the intersection and traveled into the path of a 2006 Nissan SUV driven by Ashley Lyann Barrett, 30 of Tampa.
Costello suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene of the accident.
The investigation into the accident continues, said Sgt. Steve Gaskins of the Florida Highway Patrol. It could take up to several months for charges to be filed, if they are warranted, Gaskins added.
