A motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision with a Jeep Cherokee at 4:35 p.m. Saturday on State Road 25 in Ocklawaha.

David Osborne Perry, 33, of Summerfield, was traveling west on State Road 25, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. As his vehicle approached the Qwik King Food Store, located at 12905 E. Highway 25, the Perry began to initiate a left turn and failed to notice a motorcycle driven by James Donald Watkins, 60, of Howey in the Hills. Watkins was not wearing a helmet, according to FHP.

The two vehicles collided leaving Watkins critically injured. He was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

Perry was not injured. A passenger in Perry’s vehicle, 30-year-old Keri Lynn Childers of Marion, also suffered no injuries.

Charges are pending, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.
