Rainbow Family presents check to humane societies from shredding event

The Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County and the Leesburg Humane Society were recently presented with a check in the amount of $9,144, representing the proceeds from a shredding event which was held March 22 and sponsored by the Rainbow Family and Friends Club of The Villages, the Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital and Hill’s Shred Express.

The amount collected will be split between the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County and the Leesburg Humane Society.  The sponsors covered all costs of the event so that the entire amount collected went to the Humane Societies.

This was the fifth year that the sponsors have had a shredding event.

“The proceeds this year far exceeded the expectations of the sponsors,” said Peggy Garvin, co-chair of Rainbow Family and Friends Club.
