To the Editor:
On Monday May 19, 2014 I will have my opportunity to present the case of the Chula Vista Avenue Project to the Lady Lake Commissioners at their bi-monthly meeting.  The meeting starts at 6:00 pm in the town offices at 409 Fennell Boulevard, Lady Lake, Florida 32159. For me, the volume and speed of traffic on Chula Vista Avenue is a quality of life issue.  I will, therefore, be asking the Commissioners to take the legal and physical actions necessary to accomplish the following:
1.   Reduce the speed limit on Chula Vista Avenue to 15 Miles per hour.
2.   Place four way stop signs at the intersections of Chula Vista Avenue and Palermo Place and Chula Vista Avenue and Ventura Drive.
3.  Place speed bumps on Chula Vista Avenue at its intersection with Palermo Place and Chula Vista Avenue and its intersection with Ventura Drive.
4.  Place rumble strips across Chula Vista Avenue at each posted speed limit sign.
5.  Place NO THROUGH TRAFFIC and NO TRUCK TRAFFIC signs at the La Zamora gate and the entry to Chula Vista Avenue at Rio Grand Avenue.
Chula Vista Avenue is a public street within the Town of Lady Lake Florida. Therefore, the actions I am requesting, are within the purview, authority, jurisdiction and control of the Lady Lake Commissioners.  This is not an issue with The Villages, the developer, or the Community Development District.
Please come to the commissioners meeting and voice your opinion on this very important community concern.  If you care to support the above stated actions, please download and circulate the attached petition and bring it with you Monday evening, May 19.
You might also consider doing a “PARK IN” along Chula Vista Avenue on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in support of the Chula Vista Avenue Restoration Project.  If you do so, please remember to park vehicles in a legal and proper manner.  Also, be ever mindful of the hazard to life, limb and property that this entails.
