The attorney for the woman arrested in a now-infamous escapade at the pavilion at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square, said he believes his client will prevail when she receives her day in court.
“I am confident in the ultimate outcome of the case,” attorney Joseph Indelicato said.
His client, Villager Margaret Klemm turned herself in late Tuesday at the Sumter County Detention Center. She did so on his advice as a warrant had been issued for her arrest on a probation violation.
Klemm’s arrest on June 2 while engaged in a sexual encounter with a man nearly 20 years her junior has captured media attention across the United States and across the pond in Great Britain.
Klemm, 68, of the Village of Pennecamp, had originally been arrested in April on a driving under the influence charge. She had been operating a golf cart on Old Camp Road in Lake Sumter Landing at the time of her arrest.
Klemm had appeared in court on May 30 and the original charge of DUI had been reduced to reckless driving. She was placed on probation.
On June 2, she was arrested by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy on charges of indecent exposure and disorderly conduct in the much-discussed event at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square.
On June 12 in Sumter County Court, Klemm entered a plea of not guilty to the new charges and requested a trial by jury. The prosecutor assigned to the case is Tina Smith.
Klemm’s next court date in July 2 in front of Judge Thomas Skidmore.
