Eleanor Barnard of the Village of Buttonwood had one word for the opening of Clark’s Pump-N-Shop, the new Marathon service station at Pinellas Plaza on County Road 466A.
“Hallelujah!” she said.
She and her husband, Fred, each took their golf carts to the new station Wednesday afternoon. They took their three grandsons — Jack, Logan and Caleb — along for the ride.
Clark’s Pump-N-Shop, owned by Villager John Clark, has been eagerly anticipated by drivers – and operators of gasoline-powered golf carts – in the newest sections of The Villages. It will be the first service station to be located south of County Road 466A in The Villages.
Clark, from Ashland, Kentucky, is a veteran in the business, operating a number of service stations in the country.
A grand opening will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The event will feature vintage cars from The Villages. The Village Radio Controlled Car Club will have a display and will be racing their cars that day.
Free hot dogs and hamburgers will be served at the grand opening.
