Community Development District 2 has tabled discussion of a request for pedestrian access at the Santiago gate.
CDD 2 supervisors got a little sticker shock Friday morning when they were informed the cost would be $15,000.
Villager Bob Kraus had appealed to CDD 2 in July to address a potential danger to pedestrians.
Supervisor Nick Jones agreed last month and again Friday that it is a dangerous situation.
“There have been a number of close calls,” Jones said.
Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management told CDD 2 supervisors that putting a sidewalk for pedestrians at the Santiago gate would cost about $15,000. Plant material and irrigation equipment would have to be moved in addition to laying the sidewalk, Wartinbee said.
Supervisors indicated that was a little pricey.
In tabling the item, they agreed to make visual observations of the situation and perhaps bring the issue back up for discussion at a future meeting.
Kraus, who attended Friday morning’s meeting, said he isn’t ready to give up just yet.
“I’m going to give them one more pitch,” he said.
