A robbery Monday at a Bank of America branch in Ocala and the Aug. 13 robbery at Citizens First Bank at Mulberry Grove in The Villages appear to be unrelated, according to investigators.
At about 10:30 a.m. Monday an older white male with white hair and a scruffy beard, wearing a red ballcap, green shirt and blue jeans gave a teller a note demanding money at the bank branch at Paddock Park at 3120 SW 34th Ave. The teller ran to tell her manager and the robber ran away without obtaining any money.
The Citizens First Bank was robbed by a man wearing a

“Texas” T-shirt at about 2:30 p.m. Aug. 13. In that case, he handed the teller a note, and she gave him an undisclosed amount of money.
At about 5:30 p.m. that same day, Lady Lake police surrounded Suntrust Bank located at 101 LaGrande Blvd. on the Historic Side of The Villages, taking a man into custody. He was turned over to Marion County law enforcement. However, after a check of video surveillance from some unnamed Lady Lake

businesses, the man was ruled out as a suspect.
Investigators are hoping a recently released sketch will generate new leads in the Citizens First Bank case.
