Don Deakin has been sworn in as the newest member of the Amenity Authority Committee.

He was sworn in Monday afternoon at a special meeting of the Village Center Community Development District.

Attending the swearing in ceremony with him was his wife, Joan. The couple resides in the Village of Chatham.

AAC Chairman John Wilcox was also in attendance.

Deakin has been appointed to fill a vacancy created when AAC member Rich Lambrecht resigned after suffering a stroke earlier this year.

Deakin also serves as chairman of Community Development District 4.

Deakin’s term on the AAC will continue through November 2016.

The AAC could see more changes in the months ahead.

AAC incumbent Jo Weber opted not to run again to represent Lady Lake/Lake County.

Frank Kirschenheiter, Richard Jones and Lowell Barker will be in a three-way contest to succeed Weber.

AAC incumbents Carl Bell of District 1 and Ann Forrester of District 2 are both seeking another term.

Tom Fetherling is running against Bell and Marty Rothbard is running against Forrester.
