To the Editor:
I have read and noted many comments about returning “Snowbirds” (most of them not positive). I find it interesting that the very people who use this term negatively were very likely “Snowbirds” not long ago. As one who is looking forward to returning to my second home soon I would ask “how many of you were born in the Villages?” I would further ask you to consider what financial shape all the businesses in the Villages would be without seasonal residents. (ask any restaurant manager or store owner – they would need to close their doors if it were not for seasonal residents). We pay the same taxes, and only use the facilities we pay for part of the year so I find it difficult to understand why there is this attitude every Fall about those **** Snowbirds returning. Most of us participate in worthwhile activities, including charity functions, churches, etc. and are made welcome when we return. I, for one, would like to see this negative attitude changed.
