It is the District’s intent to restore night swimming at Paradise, Hilltop, Southside and Chula Vista pools, the head of Villages District Property Management told Community Development District 3 supervisors on Friday.
Night swimming was suspended in April following an inspection by the Department of Health which found there wasn’t sufficient lighting to support night swimming at those pools.
Sam Wartinbee, head of District Property Management, said he hopes to have three or four contractors visit the sites next week.
He said the District is facing two issues:
• These are older facilities. “Contractors have no idea what they are going to run into underground,” Wartinbee said.
• The Villages is building so fast it’s tough to find an electrical contractor who wants to do the work, he added.
“We’re doing the best we can,” Wartinbee said.
“There is no intention not to complete this?” asked CDD 3 Supervisor Gail Lazenby.
Wartinbee said that the District fully intends to get this done.
“I wish it was done three months ago,” Wartinbee said.
