Robert W. Colby, 92, husband of Patricia of Chicago and Spruce Creek South died Wednesday, November 12, 2014. Robert was born in Chicago on September 14, 1922. He was the son of Lester and Cleta Colby. He was in the US Army and served during WWII. He received 3 overseas service stars, 3 bronze battle stars, WWII victory medal and a good conduct medal. Robert was in the European African Middle Eastern Company, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign which took him to Japan, Philippines and Italy. After the war he became an IBEW member and worked for the Super Electric Company overseeing the construction of many Chicago landmark buildings. It was at Super Electric that he met his wife Pat of 33 years. They were fortunate to travel the U.S. extensively and then retired to Florida. He was an avid bowler and always had a project going around the house. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters, Diane(Bill)Thompson, Merry(Wiley)Edmondson and the late Carol(Tom)Moritz. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Susan, Bradley, Lynn, Sean, Jason, Katie and 5 great grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, William, Alyssa and Hayden. Family will be receiving friends from 1 to 3:30 with a prayer service to start at 2:30 PM Monday, November 17, 2014 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services The Villages.
