A 28-year-old Lady Lake man was arrested after he allegedly held a steak knife to his girlfriend’s throat and threatened to kill her.
Joel Carmelo Sotolongo was arrested Sunday by Lady Lake police officers at his home in the 800 block of Summit Street following the altercation.
The fight broke out after Sotolongo accused his girlfriend of cheating on him, according to the arrest report. He then ripped her shirt and dragged her through the house by her hair, the arrest report indicated. He then took a steak knife and began stabbing the floor around her head before holding the knife up to her throat.
She broke free and attempted to call 911, but Sotolongo allegedly took the phone from her. She then ran outside and began yelling for help before being knocked down and dragged back into the house, the arrest report said. He then forced her into the shower and told her to clean herself up before police arrived.
He is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery and depriving use of 911.
He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $31,000 bond.
