The Burger King restaurant at La Plaza Grande in The Villages is undergoing a major remodeling.
The restaurant at 1007 Bichara Blvd. is currently closed as renovations are ongoing.
The restaurant was originally built in 2000.
The renovation plans received the blessing of Lady Lake officials and members of the Architectural Review Committee in The Villages.
The local restaurant is owned by the Burger King Corporation and will continue to be operated as a Burger King.
After crossing the northern border and acquiring Tim Horton’s in 2014, Burger King elevated its status to the third-largest fast food chain in the world, coming closer to No. 1 ranked McDonalds.
