A woman was transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center Monday after suffering a beating at the hands of a registered sex offender.
The woman was at a residence on County Road 201 in Oxford at 3:30 a.m. Monday when Jeremy Carl Fisher, 31, allegedly seized her cell phone and accused her of cheating on him, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The woman told police he choked her and then punched her, knocking her onto the bed. She got up and tried to leave, but Fisher struck her with a side panel from a dresser drawer, knocking her unconscious, according to the arrest report.
She said Fisher would not let her leave until it was time for her to go to work at 8 a.m. She stayed out of fear, the report indicated.
Fisher was located at 8:49 p.m. and arrested by deputies.
He is facing charges of aggravated battery, domestic battery by strangulation and false imprisonment. He is being held without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
In 2005 in Marion County, Fisher had been convicted of lewd and lascivious behavior with a victim aged 12-15, according to records from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
