Six-inch golf holes may be here to stay at El Santiago Executive Golf course.

The Amenity Authority Committee, which meets at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Savannah Center, will consider make the six-inch holes permanent.

The six-inch holes were introduced by Golf Management Solutions last year on a trial basis at El Santiago and Turtle Mound.

Though initially met with some ridicule, over time the larger holes caught on at El Santiago, considered to be one of the easiest golf courses in The Villages.

GMS has indicated that feedback has been positive and has declared the nearly year-long experiment a success.

If approved by the AAC, the change would be made May 4.
