
A 57-year-old Villager was arrested Thursday night after a clerk at the Hampton Inn contacted the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office about an intoxicated driver.
The deputy responded at 8:21 p.m. to the hotel located on County Road 466 where he found Mary Kessler Westerlund sitting in the front seat of her car.
The deputy asked her if she had been drinking to which she replied she had. She said she could not remember how much she had had to drink, according to the arrest report.
She failed field sobriety exercises and later provided breath samples that registered .175 and .165 blood alcohol content.
Westerlund was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
