A Drake Elm in Community Development District 3 may soon be removed over concerns of its location and appearance. CDD Supervisor and retired captain with The Villages Public Safety Department Gail Lazenby brought concerns to the board of the elm that sits adjacent to the property at 3390 Reston Drive, citing its position at the edge of a Villager’s property and resulting droppings both in the road and on the property.
The tree formerly created a hazard to drivers as it hung over Reston Drive, but was trimmed recently by district landscapers. Its lopsided appearance now looks out of place in the otherwise manicured neighborhood.
Supervisors agreed to have property management look at possible removal of the tree and will address the issue upon reconvening for their next meeting.
CDD 6 and CDD 7 earlier this year have also agreed to remove Drake Elm trees that proved problematic for residents.
