A resident who lives at Ashland Pond has negotiated a compromise with Community Development District 5 for removal of some trees that obstruct his view of the water.
Robert Miller who lives on Kaylee Drive appealed Friday morning to the CDD 5 supervisors. The supervisors agreed to allow the resident to work with Property Management for the removal and replanting of three of the five trees that obstruct his view.
Miller said he was willing to pay for the removal and replanting of the trees.
Initially, Property Management Director Sam Wartinbee recommended against the removal of the trees.
“I am hesitant to start removing trees. Do it for one and you could end up doing it for a lot more,” Wartinbee said.
But supervisors wanted to work out a compromise with Miller. At the same time, supervisors were wary of setting a precedent.
“What I am fearful of is other homeowners who might come forward and want something similar,” said CDD 5 Chairman Walter Martin.
