Community Watch wants to set up a substation at Savannah Center. The substation would serve as the new assigned location for patrol drivers and supervisors assigned to specific areas for shift changes.
“Not only would this addition provide for a more efficient use of time, it also provides a substantial annual cost savings based on the reduced amount of miles traveled,” according to a memo from District Manager Janet Tutt.
In a presentation to the Villages Homeowners Association this past week, Community Watch Division Chief Bill Elliott noted that Community Watch vehicles log 95,000 miles per month.
Community Watch is headquartered at the Key Largo District Office Building on Bonita Boulevard.
The Savannah Regional Recreation Center has adequate room to accommodate an office for shift changes that would have no impact on the current recreational activities, the memo said. Staff is proposing to construct walls in the kitchen area to provide staff with a designated area in close proximity to the exit door to the service courtyard.
The project will be discussed by the Amenity Authority Committee and the Village Center Community Development Board at their Wednesday meetings.
