
Dr. Andrew Gallopo, 75, Summerfield, FL, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015. The oldest of three siblings, Andrew Gallopo was born in Lodi, NJ and raised in Garfield, NJ. Andrew excelled at school and earned a place as a trombonist in the New Jersey All State Orchestra and Region I All State Band. He achieved an A.B. in Chemistry at Rutgers University. He earned a PhD in organic chemistry at Brown University in Rhode Island. He taught masters level chemistry at Montclair University for many years. He worked in the Consumer Health Research Department for Warner Lambert Company. He holds numerous patents in the consumer healthcare science field. Some of his patents contributed to the development of Efferdent denture cleansers. His patents also led to the development of occult tests for colon cancer. He was an active tennis player and ball room dancer. Later he became an accomplished craftsman and woodworker and frequently made small furniture for family and friends much to their delight. He is predeceased by his father Steven N Gallopo and mother Mildred. He is survived by his younger siblings, Stephen of Flanders, New Jersey and his wife Sylvia, Karen Gallopo of Basking Ridge, aunt Rose and uncle John Barcewski of Clifton, aunt Martha Maneri of Sparta; three loving nieces: Stephanie Cassella of Flanders, NJ, Alison Bileci of Flanders, and Suzanne Aiello of Montville, NJ; 8 grand-nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Lady Lake Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home.
