Gary Lester, vice president for community relations for The Villages and president of The Villages Charter Schools, will speak Thursday to the Village Republican Club of Sumter County.
The club meets at 7 p.m. at Savannah Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and socializing.
An ordained Presbyterian minister, Lester pastored congregations in Texas, Arkansas and Ohio before coming to Florida in 1991 to lead North Lake Presbyterian Church, one of the fastest-growing Presbyterian churches in the United States. Lester is a popular public speaker often called upon to speak on subjects related to the Constitution and the modern conservative movement. He will be speaking on “The Greatest Anti-Poverty Program in History.”
