Mulberry sweeps playoff doubleheader and wins CFL Championship

Mulberry jumped to a 7-1 lead in this contest and coasted to the victory over Synergy. The win was paced by 3 hits each from pitcher Gary Luck, Jim Weigand and Ed Haith (homerun + 3RBI’s). George Loew had 2 hits & 2 RBI’s while the Mulberry subs Jack Coit and Tom Farrell combined for 5 hits. In the loss, Jim Creed and Skeeter Aikey each had 2 hits for Synergy.
3AMIGOS PROSHOP 29 IHOP 28 In 9 innings
3Amigos scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th to force a tie and 3 more in the bottom of the 9th to pull out a hard fought win over upset minded IHOP. Rod Severson (4 RBI’s), Bud Ramsey (5 RBI’s),pitcher Gary Arnold (4 RBI’s) and manager Wayne Grunewald (3 RBI’s) all had 5 hits in the win. Bill Pauldine had 4 hits and Jack Nagle added 3 hits and 4 RBI’s. IHOP got a leadoff homerun Bob Strolin and Joe Cataldi later added a grand slam homer. Joe and Dennis Bauch(3 RBI’s) both had 5 hits while Pete McCaffery added 4 hits and 4 RBI’s. Phil Palma added 3 hits and 4 RBI’s.

Behind by 3 runs, Mulberry scored 4 in the bottom of the 6th inning and held 3Amigos scoreless in the 7th to claim the CFL Championship. Jim Weigand led the win with 4 hits while pitcher Gary Luck (2 RBI’s) and Paul Shaffer both added 3 hits. Subs Jack Coit and Tom Farrell combined for 4 hits and 3 RBI’s. In the loss, Bud Ramsey had 4 hits while Bill Pauldine, Rod Severson (2 RBI’s), Mark Hildebrand (2 RBI’s) and manager Wayne Grunewald(3 RBI’s) all had 3 hits.
