A Community Development District 7 supervisor has raised concerns about his district’s potential share of planned repairs at the Lake Sumter bridge.
CDD 7 Supervisor Ron Ruggeri provided his fellow supervisors an update Thursday morning regarding planned work at the bridge. Ruggeri represents CDD 7 on the Project Wide Advisory Committee which discussed the matter earlier this week.
PWAC had been presented with a draft of a proposed $72,500 study by Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc. The study would include bringing in additional experts, District Manager Janet Tutt noted.

Ruggeri pointed out that CDD 7’s cost would be $8,600.
“And that’s just the study,” Ruggeri said.
He said the entire project to fix the problem with the underlying supports to the bridge could cost anywhere from $500,000 to $1.5 million.
PWAC, which includes CDDs 5 through 10, would pay for the repairs. The road belongs to Sumter County, but the islands on which the bridge rests belong to the community development district.
Tutt said it has not been determined whether the underlying problem is due to erosion, a sinkhole or another issue.
PWAC has taken the draft study under advisement but has taken no action on it.
