Week 3 of the Winter season had plenty of softball action with 3 games settled by one run.
Perkins 17 Arden 16
Perkins Restaurant came back from being down 16-9 to score 8 runs in the bottom of the 7th with Bob Jacques providing the walk off hit for the win. Perkins was led by Bob Strolin, who was 4/4 with 3 rbi’s; while Jim Glover, Jim Walter, Bob Jacques, and Manager Vin Stebbins all had 3 hits. Arden Jewelers had perfect 3/3 days from Pete Glowacki and Lou Daigle, who had a homer and a triple. Others with 3 hits were: John Long, David Blandford, and pitcher Tim Carroll.
Babiarz 7 3Amigos 7
Babiarz Law survived a 7th inning come back attempt by 3 Amigos to win 8-7. Babiarz hotbats were Pat Perkins and Doug Nantais who had 3 hits each. 3 Amigos got 2 hits from Tom Fulton, Bill Pauldine, and Mark Hildebrand.
Buffalo Crossing 13 Humana 11
With the game tied at 7 runs each Humana scored 4 runs to take the lead; but, couldn’t hold on as acting manager Roger Duncan strokes the walk off single to score 2 runs for the Buffalo Crossing victory. Humana had 3 hits from Tom Ramberg and Jim Gordon; while, Bob Roth, Chuck Bowman, Ed Bergheimer, Paul Shaffer, and Bob Slaninka had 2 hits each. Buffalo Crossing got 4 hits including 2 triples from Jack Coit; and, 3 hits from Will Kutter in the win.
Softball’s R Game 11 Synergy 9
Softball’s R Game returned to action with a win led by Bill Nisbet’s 3/3 day and 2 hits apiece from Bill Dunkley, Dennis Bauch, Bill Yeager, and Don Mulneix. Synergy Wealth’s Rick Duemler had a triple and a homer to drive in 3 runs. While Jim Creed had a triple and 2 rbi’s. Jack Finley, Dick Adams, Dave Williams, Doug St. Andrews, and manager, Vernon Brooks all had 2 hits in the loss.
Paul Davis 19 IHOP 7
Leading by 10-7 going into the top of the 7th , PDR batted around to score 9 more runs and end IHOP’s hopes of a comeback. Led by Chick Cicatelli’s 4 hits and 3 hits each from Don Melcher, Tim Farrell, and Bobby DePace the key hit of the inning was a grand slam from manager Jeff Bekasi. IHOP had 3/3 hitting from Jerry Jensen and Jim Lambert, while Larry Williams, Bill Reed, and Bob Cramer added 2 hits each.
Harlan 22 Mulberry 14
Harlan had 4 hits from Bill Landis and 3 hits apiece from Charles Clare, Bob Whitely, manager Sante Tulli, and pitcher Fred Hughes. Other significant hits included a solo homer from Vince Caso, and triples from Ken Atkinson and George Kennedy. Mulberry had Ed DeMaio and George Loew with 3 hits each while 7 others had 2 hits in the loss.
