Week nine in the Central Florida League season saw two games go into extra innings and one end in five.
Mulberry Integrative Medicine needed 8 innings to defeat the Arden Jewelers team 11-10
Mulberry had two hits apiece from: Mike Bernbach, Ed Haith, Chuck Alexander, John Kushner, and Jack Nagle. Gene Llafet drove in 2 runs with a double and Mark Goodwin, Ed Krisha and Alexander each stroked a triple and scored a run. Arden outhit Mulberry 19-16 with David Blandford, John Meindl, Bob Nizlek, and Jack Meagher all had 3 hits. Arden scored 4 runs with sacrifice flies. Arden also turned 4 double plays to keep Mulberry’s offense in check.
Paul Davis Restorations defeat Fross & Fross 18-11 (in 8 innings)
Paul Davis led 10-1 going into the bottom of the 6th. Fross scored 5 runs and held Paul Davis scoreless in the top of the 7th. Fross scored 4 runs to tie and had a man on 3rd with only 1 out; but, Paul Davis turned a double play to end the inning. In the extra inning Paul Davis roared back and batted around to score 8 runs. Fross could only score 1 run in the bottom of the inning. Paul Davis had 3 hits from: Bob Kelly, Don Melcher, Bob Buchanan, Jeff Bekasi, Tom Ledoux, and sub Tom Bent. Bent had a homer in the 6th and the following batter, Bill Naasz also homered. Fross & Fross got 2 hits apiece from: Ron Rowe, John Buchanan, Dave Pope, Jim Joseph, Carl McWilliams, Tom Bortle, and Mike Labetti.
Harlan Insurance defeated Buffalo Crossing 13-10
Harlan’s Tom Ceglie was perfect with 3 hits; while: Charles Clare, Fred Hughes, Ken Atkinson, Craig Dahlquist, Vinny Caso, and Bill Naasz all stroked 2 hits. Buffalo was led by John Hoover, who had 3 hits. Those with two hits included: Jack Coit, Joe DeGeorge, Will Kutter, Joe Cataldi, Jim Harrison, and Bob Fowler.
Softball’s R Game continued to win by besting IHOP 9-7
The league’s best team was led by Jim Stencil, Scott Marshall, and Bill Yeagher, who all had 3 hits on the day. IHOP had 3 hits from lead off batter Bob Cramer ,pitcher, Carlos Lopez, and, sub Pete McCaffrey. Larry Williams and Ron Goldman had 2 hits in the losing cause.
It only took Synergy Wealth 5 innings to defeat Humana 16
Synergy got 3 hits each from: Jim Creed, Rick Fredieu, Jack Finley. Also perfect on the day with 2 hits was Dave Williams; others with 2 hits included: Doug St.Andrews, John Reedy, Dick Adams, and Vince Pezzullo. Humana only got 6 hits with 3 coming in the 2nd inning when Scott King drove in the lone Humana run.
The last game of the day saw Perkins Restaurant come from behind to defeat 3 Amigos 9-7
Perkins got 4 hits by Jim Glover and 2 each from: Bob Jacques, Woody Wood, pitcher Ray Beaupre, and Bob Strolin. Strolin had a 3 run homer in the 4th inning which put Perkins in the lead for the first time. 3 Amigos was led by Dave Hinkley’s 3 hits. Contributing 2 hits each were: Manny Sanchez, Mark Hildebrand, Tom Fulton, John Ashby, Al DuBuc, and Jim Rogers.
