Two people were arrested in separate incidents this weekend at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge shopping plaza.
A 22-year-old Ocala man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly took a pair of headphones from the store without paying for them. Dillon James Henick allegedly removed the headphones from their packaging, concealed them in the pocket of his jeans and left the store without paying for them. He was spotted by a loss prevention officer. When a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy arrived, Henrick told the deputy he was sorry and it was the first time he had ever stolen anything, the arrest report indicated. He was arrested on a charge of petit theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $500.
A 43-year-old Oxford woman was arrested on a charge of grand theft after she allegedly took grocery items, shoes and health and beauty items without paying for them. Lisa Matthews allegedly tried to conceal the items in Wal-Mart bags she had in her cart. When a deputy arrived, she denied taking the items.
“I was going to get my mother to pay for the items,” she said, according to the report.
She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $2,000.
