To the Editor:

My husband and I were at the polo match when the horse collapsed and died. It was devastating to watch and upset us both. While they were removing the horse the announcer was silent -nothing- and then after about 10 minutes he said he assumed the horse had a heart attack but the rider was ok. Nothing more, the match resumed like nothing happened. To think that no one cared about that horse is difficult for me to comprehend. What was his name? How old was he? Who did he belong to? It doesn’t matter to anyone? The only thing you posted was the rider was ok. That’s it. The announcer was terrible and talked about the players drinking and they probably couldn’t write to sign a ball that was caught, all off the wall remarks that were not professional in anyway or manner. I doubt that we will ever go to another polo match after this experience. It left us with the feeling that the bottom dollar is what counts, not a horse’s life that we don’t even know his name.
