The Central Florida Softball League returned to action today with 4 games.

Softball’s R Game scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th and held on to defeat Mulberry Integrative Medicine 12-10.

SRG was led by Al Mahar’s double and 2 triples and two hits apiece by Rick Duemler, Ray Bedford, Jim Harrison, Ed Krisha and Jim Stencil, who had a solo homer to lead off the top of the 3rd inning. Mulberry was led by R.J. Jackson, who went 4 for 4, and Chuck Bowman, who had 3 hits and a sacrifice fly. Bill DiCarlo had 3 hits and Bob Roth added 2 hits and a sacrifice fly.

Babiarz Law held Synergy scoreless for the first 3 innings as they built a 7-0 lead on their way to a 8-4 win.

Mark Goodwin led Babiarz with 3 hits, while Ed Moriarity, Jim Creed, Paul Justice and George Kennedy chipped in 2 hits each. Pitcher, Tim Carroll helped his cause with 2 sacrifice flies. Synergy scored 3 runs in the last 2 innings and was led by manager, Vernon Brooks, who had 3 hits. Adding 2 hits each were: Carmine D’Agostino and Rick Fredieu.

Buffalo Crossing, who led 18-6, going into the bottom of the 7th gave up 8 runs; but, held on to defeat Fross & Fross 18-14.

Buffalo Crossing’s Don Brozick had a perfect day at the plate going 4 for 4. Bill Reed had 7 runs batted in thanks to a pair of doubles and a grand slam home run. Bill Begley had 3 hits and 2 rbi’s for the winners. Fross & Fross got 4 hits from Don Mulneix and Al Deibler. Mike Hyott chipped in 3 hits and a sacrifice fly to drive in 4 runs for the losers.

The contest between IHOP and Harlan Insurance had to go into extra innings before IHOP emerged victorious 20-16.

IHOP was led by Dave Oatley, who had 5 hits and 5 rbi’s. Pitcher, Jim Glover, had 4 hits and 4 rbi’s to help his team. Adding 3 hits for IHOP were: Ken Atkinson, Chick Cicatelli, Jack Meagher, and Rod Severson. Harlan’s lead off man, Charles Clare, had 4 hits as did Mark Schiffhauer. Bob Whiteley had a pair of hits and a sacrifice for 3 rbi’s. Sponsor Bruce Harlan had 3 hits and drove in 2 runs.
