A man reportedly tried to flee Wal-Mart in Summerfield on Sunday afternoon with a shopping cart loaded with more than $400 in merchandise.
The man, described as 6 feet tall and about 50 years in age, loaded the cart with a chainsaw, gas-powered hedge trimmer, two pair of men’s jeans, a hand-held electric shrub pruner, two cans of spray paint and a single plum, according to an incident report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. He pushed the cart of items out into the parking lot and was followed by a loss prevention officer from the store. The man began to run while pushing the cart, but then got into a vehicle leaving the cart and merchandise behind.
The items had a total value of $418.97.
