An underage couple was arrested Sunday with stolen groceries, including an 18-pack of Corona beer.
Alexander Morales Hernandez, 20, and Ashley Morales Hernandez, 20, both of Leesburg, were arrested at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday behind NYPD Pizza after allegedly stealing $424 in groceries, cosmetics and beer from Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A loss prevention officer at the store saw the couple leave with the merchandise through the garden department. He flagged down a deputy in the parking lot and the deputy was able to apprehend the couple who had gotten into their car and drove away with the merchandise.
They were both arrested on felony charges of theft and misdemeanor charges of illegal possession of liquor by a person under the age of 21.
They were booked on $3,000 bond each at the Sumter County Detention Center.
