A 43-year-old man who works at Lighthouse Point Bar and Grille at Lake Sumter Landing will have to undergo anger management training and attend a “Letting Go” class as part of a sentence for an attack earlier this year on the new boyfriend of his estranged girlfriend
Jason Alan Hampton’s ex-girlfriend had been on a second date with her new boyfriend on March 17 and they were returning from dinner and drinks to her home at Rolling Acres Apartments. She learned from her son that Hampton might be in the area and encouraged the new boyfriend to leave. Hampton showed up and allegedly tackled the new boyfriend and the two wound up on the ground hitting each other. The girlfriend hit Hampton with a phone in an attempt to break up the fight. Hampton fled before police arrived, an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department indicated. He was later arrested on a warrant.
On Tuesday, he entered a plea of no contest in Lake County Court to a charge of battery.
He was placed on probation for 12 months, ordered to undergo alcohol evaluation and to seek recommendation treatment, ordered to pay $927 in court costs, and ordered not to return to Rolling Acres Apartments. He has also been ordered to stay away from his ex-girlfriend and her minor son.
In addition, he must attend the anger management and “Letting Go” classes.
