Central Florida League 2016 Summer Tournament Highlights Tuesday saw the start of the Central Florida League’s summer post season tournament. As so often happens the lowest ranked team defeated the top seeded team.

Synergy Wealth has made a habit of beating the regular season champions and did it again with a 15-13 win over Softball’s R Game.

Synergy got three hits each from: Jack Coit, Dave Williams, John Reedy, and Roger Duncan. Ed DeMaio had a pair of doubles and drove in 3 runs. Synergy took a 15-8 lead with a six run top of the seventh. They needed all those as SRG answered by batting around in the bottom of the seventh and scoring 7 runs and fell 2 runs short of tying the game. Softball’s R Game got the highlight reel play of the day as Bob Kelly doubled up the speedy Jack Coit and Ed DeMaio. SRG’s Ray Bedford , Dan Kincaid, Ed Krisha, and Bill Nesbit had 3 hits apiece. Jim Stencil had a 3 run homer.

The second place Babiarz Law fell to Harlan Insurance 11-9.

Harlan was led by Charles Clare, Fred Hughes, and Mark Schiffhauer with 3 hits apiece.  Dave Pope stroked a double and a triple to drive in 3 runs and sub Ed Konopka had solo homer in the 4th. Babiarz manager, Ed Moriarity had 4 hits and Ed Haith had 3 plus a sacrifice fly. Bob Green and Don Melcher had 2 hits each and drove in 4 runs.

IHOP defeated Fross & Fross 13-7 with Chick Cicatelli, Jim Fetela, Art Anton, and sub, Jim Creed all having 3 hits.

Craig Dahlquist had 2 hits and drove in 4 runs while Jack Meagher had a sacrifice fly and 2 hits to add 2 more runs for IHOP. Fross was led by Don Mulneix’s 4 hits with Jim Morton and Pat Perkins chipping in 3 each.

Buffalo Crossing bested Mulberry Integrative Medicine 14-10.

Buffalo Crossing’s Don Brozick had 4 hits including a home run to drive in 3 runs. Randy Murgittroyd had a triple and 3 singles to also drive in 3 runs. Bill Reed, Andy Betanzos, and sub, Bruce Harlan also had 3 hits for the winners. Mulberry’s Mark Hildebrand had the first over the fence homer of the summer season in the 3rd inning. That combined with a sacrifice fly gave him 4 rbi’s. Bill DiCarlo, Bob Roth, R J Jackson, Dick Adams, and sub, Bill Naasz all had 2 hits in the loss. One of Naasz’s hits was a home run to lead off the bottom of the 7th.

The Central Florida League summer season will come to an end next Tuesday with the conclusion of the post season tournament.
