That’s the theme of this year’s Cattle Baron’s Ball, being held Saturday, Sept 24 at the Savannah Center. Grab your boots and shine up your spurs for an evening of food, dancing and giving. This premiere casual event is one of the most anticipated fundraisers in The Villages.

This will be the 14th year the American Cancer Society of Lake, Sumter and Marion counties has held the fundraising event. Last year’s ball raised over $60,000.

Chairperson of this year’s event, Joanne Doran, is hoping this year will be bigger and better.

“We have a great list of sponsors so far and even a donation of a golf cart,” she said. “The local businesses have been very generous.” Aside from the golf cart, donations have included everything from gift baskets to airline tickets to a Bermuda vacation.

Radio personality Rob Newton from my790am.com is the honorary chairperson for this year’s event. The Clark Barrios Band, a popular Villages entertainer, will be providing the music. Catering will be provided for the sit down dining extravaganza by Fresh Group Catering.

Tami Dion, senior marketing manager for the Villages American Cancer Society, said everything is coming along nicely and the outpouring of support has been touching.

“Cancer touches everyone’s lives. It has affected either you, a loved one or someone you know. This fundraiser will help raise money for everything from rides for patients to their treatments to providing lodging for patients and caregivers,” she said. “The funds will support community based patient services programs, research and education.”

Tickets are $150 each which includes an evening of entertainment, a fabulous sit down dinner and a live and silent auction. Tickets for the custom golf cart are limited to 300 and are $100 a piece. You can learn more about the event and purchase tickets at www.cbbmidcentralfl.com

”We are in need of volunteers and more business donations” Doran said.

Sponsorship packets are available.
