The Central Florida League wrapped up its summer 2016 season on Tuesday with the playing of the final games in our post season tournament.

In semi-final action Synergy Wealth defeated IHOP 9-7.

John Reedy had 3 hits and drove in 4 runs, while Vinny Pezzullo drove in 2 runs with 2 hits. Ed DeMaio had a pair of doubles and Vernon Brooks a couple of singles, each player driving a run. For IHOP Ken Atkinson went 4 for 4. Chick Cicatelli, Jim Fetela, Jack Meagher, and Wendy Hartfiel all had 2 hits in the loss.

The other semi-final saw Harlan Insurance bomb Buffalo Crossing 25-10.

Harlan had 5 hits each by Charles Clare and Dave Pope, each driving 3 runs. Bob Whitely hit a grand slam homer in the 2nd to drive in 4 runs. Pitcher, Fred Hughes, and Mark Schiffhauer had 3 hits to drive in 3 runs each. Sponsor, Bruce Harlan had a pair of triples to drive in 4 runs and Jim Fellabaum had 4 hits and 2 rbi’s. Sub, Bill Naasz had 3 hits and 2 rbi’s. Buffalo Crossing had 3 hits by Don Brozick and Randy Murgittroyd. Murgittroyd hit a 3 run homer in the 3rd inning. Tom Winegarden and Andy Betanzos had 2 hits apiece.

The final of the tournament was won by perennial cinderella team, Synergy Wealth, 11-7 over Harlan Insurance.

The win gave manager, Vernon Brooks, a trifecta as Brooks’ Rec.3 Dolphins took the regular and post season titles. Synergy had 3 hits each by Ed DeMaio, Vinny Pezzullo, and Dave Williams. Rick Fredieu had 2 hits and drove in 3 runs. Harlan was led by Dave Pope and Mark Schiffhauer’s 3 hits, while Bob Whitely in his last day playing in the Villages added 2 hits.

The Central Florida League had their Fall Draft on Wednesday afternoon and returns to the fields in September.
