In the spirit of Rio, “Olympians” and their coaches recently thrilled the Day Break Club at Odell Recreation Center.
The Day Break Club provides a place for those with disabilities and severe physical challenges to gather for fun while their caregivers enjoy a much-needed respite.
The therapy dogs from the Dynamic Dog Club won in every category, such as group gymnastics (ground rolls, jumping through hoops, weaving), skate boarding, best imitation of a Jack-in-the-Box, hypnotism, and a puzzle-solving race.
Chloe, a Golden Retriever, handed out flowers to all Olympians, and pushed an “injured” Dracula, a Chihuahua-Jack Russell combo, in a stroller for the Closing Ceremony, while Yorkie Mickey Mouse waved an American flag. Other competitors were Party Poodle Munchkin and Pekingese Lollie.
