The Central Florida League returned to action on Tuesday with five games to start our Fall 2016 season.
Arden Jewelers got off to a great start with a 13-9 win over Buffalo Crossing.
Pat Perkins, Bill Reed, and John Hoover were all perfect at the plate. Dave Hinkley, Rod Severson, Al Mahar, and Larry Williams all chipped in 2 hits for the winners. Buffalo Crossing got 2 hits each from: Phil Palma, Joe DeGeore, Randy Bowen, Larry Harshaw, Roger Duncan, manager, John Leone, and sub, Randy Murgittroyd. Murgittroyd had a homer to lead off the 6th inning.
The other early game saw Humana destroy Fross & Fross 21-9.
Humana got four hits from: Tom McGann, Dave Oatley, Gary Luck, Paul Justice, and Chuck Bowman. Lead off batter Ed Chirumbolo and last batter manager, Jim Sherman each contributed 3 hits in the win. Fross & Fross led early as they scored 4 runs in the first and 5 in the second; but, failed to score in the last 5 innings. John Gouin, Jack Nagle, and Mike Bernbach each had 2 hits.
Paul Davis scored in each of the first 3 innings and held on to defeat Babiarz Law 8-7.
Bob Buchanan lead PDR with 3 hits; while Jim Harrison, Don Mulneix, Jack Meagher, and Jeff Bekasi had 2 hits each. Manager, Bob Winder, led Babiarz with 4 hits. Tim Carroll, Terry Yanny, Bud Ramsey, and Craig Dahlquist chipped in 2 hits each.
IHOP beat Palm Ridge Dental 10-8 to spoil the return of Palm Ridge as a league sponsor.
IHOP got 3 hits apiece from: Ron Goldman, Jim Lambert, and Tom Guinan. While Mark Rich, Rich Bergman, Wayne Mallory, and John Barracato added 2 hits for the winners. Mulberry had two homers in the 5th inning as both Gary Nicolay and Ed DeMaio hit round trippers. Nicolay, DeMaio, Ed Haith, John Goulet, George Loew, Ralph Furbush, and Andy Betanzos all had 2 hits in the loss.
Synergy Wealth bested Harlan Insurance 11-6.
Art Anton led Synergy with 4 hits and Mark Shiffhauer and Conrad Strassle had 3 hits. Chuck Alexander, Rick Fredieu, Jim Glover, and Mike Hughes added 2 hits each in the win. Harlan scored 3 runs in the first inning on a home run by Tom Ceglie. The Harlan bats then went to sleep until the 6th inning when the 2nd thru the 4th batter each had a hit to score a run. The 7th inning saw 2 more runs score as Bruce Harlan and Tom Winegarden started the inning with singles. Two fielder’s choices drove in runs before the last out was made.
