This past week ended with three teams tied for first place heading into the last week of regular season play.

IHOP remains in the mix as they defeated Synergy Wealth 8-5.

IHOP scored 5 runs in the fifth inning as batters five through one all had hits, except manager, Jack Nesci who drew a walk. In the sixth inning Ron Goldman and Gary Roth started with singles and Wayne Mallory was given an intentional walk after Jim Lambert made the first out. Rich Bergman had a sacrifice hit to score 2 runs and John Barracato drove in the third with a single. Synergy Wealth led 1-0 in the first with lead off hitter Jim Creed scoring on a single by John Reedy. This lead held up until the bottom of the fifth. Synergy got two runs in the top of the sixth on singles by Creed, Rick Duemler, Conrad Strassle, and a fielder’s choice by injury sub, Bill Dunkley. Synergy attempted a comeback in the seventh when Art Anton, Pete Davidson, and Mike Hughes got hits and Vernon Brooks walked. The second run of the inning scored on a fielder’s choice hit by Jim Creed; but the game ended as Rick Duemler made the third out.

Paul Davis Restorations returned to action after scoring the previous week and got back on the winning track beating Harlan Insurance 14-11.

Paul Davis joins IHOP and Arden Jewelers in the race for first. Paul Davis was led by Chick Cicatelli’s four hits while Don Mulneix, Bill Nisbet, Jim Harrison, and sub Doug St.Andrews all had three hits. Harlan Insurance got two hits apiece from: Charles Clare, Ken Atkinson, David Blandford, Tom Ceglie, Bob Nyce, Jim Fetela, Ed Bergheimer, and Tom Winegarden, who had a three run homer in the top of the seventh.

Softball’s R Game bested Fross & Fross 8-2.

Fross only had two players with more than a hit, Dave Pope and pitcher, Jim Joseph. Softball’s R Game managed to group their hits together as Duane Broschat, Vince Pezzullo, Jim Stencil, Al DuBuc, and Jim Rogers all got two hits.

Palm Ridge Dental got their offense rolling and they defeated Buffalo Crossings 20-9.

Palm Ridge got four doubles from John Goulet while Gary Nicolay added four hits including a 3 run homer. Ed Haith opened the game with a homer and had two other hits. Pitcher, Jim Moyer, had three hits and four runs batted in to help his team win. Buffalo Crossings Jim Wiegand had four hits and Bob Jacques, Larry Harshaw and Joe Cataldi all had three hits in the loss.

Babiarz Law ended Humana’s season on a down note as they won 20-9.

Ed Moriarity led Babiarz with five hits. Stroking three hits each for the law firm were: Terry Yanny, Ev Rhyner, Craig Dahlquist, Ed Konopka, Charlie Manning, and Tom Ramberg. Humana had three hits from Tom McGann and Chuck Bowman. Paul Justice, Bill Yeagher, Mark Goodwin, and sub pitcher, Jim Joseph all had two hits in the loss.

The Fall 2016 regular season ends on Tuesday and tournament action begins the following Tuesday. Who will take first place??? Stayed tuned for the next highlight report.
