The Central Florida League wrapped up it’s fall regular season last Tuesday. With a possible three way tie for first place on the line the day ended with IHOP and Paul Davis Restorations tied with 8-2 records. IHOP takes the crown with the head to head win.
Synergy Wealth came from behind to win 11-10 over Fross & Fross in the bottom of the seventh on a walk off single by John Reedy.
Fross and Fross led 10-5 after 5 innings; but, couldn’t hold on. Fross was led by John Buchanan, Bob Fowler, and Dan MacPherson, who had three hits each. Jim Joseph, Dave Pope, Carl McWilliams, and Gary Coleman all chipped in two hits for Fross. Synergy got three hits from Mike Hughes and John Reedy, who had a 2 run homer in the third inning. Jim Creed and Vernon Brooks added two hits each.
Paul Davis Restorations kept their championship hopes alive by beating Softball’s R Game 20-12.
Paul Davis got four hits from clean up man, Don Mulneix, and Bob Buchanan, while Gary DePalma stroked three hits. Everyone on the team had a least two hits as Paul Davis had 27 hits on the day. Softball’s R Game’s Scott Marshall was a double short of the cycle as he had two singles, a triple, and a 2 run homer. With two hits each were: Duane Broschat, Vince Pezzullo, Ed Krisha, Roy Warter, George Kennedy, and Jim Rogers.
IHOP insured they were in the running by defeating Buffalo Crossings 22-15.
Down 12-10 going into the top of the seventh, IHOP scored two runs and held Buffalo Crossings scoreless to force an extra inning. In the top of the 8th IHOP sent 14 players to the plate and scored 10 runs. John Barracato led IHOP with five hits, while Manny Sanchez, Wayne Mallory, and Rich Bergman all had four hits. Buffalo Crossings’ Jim Wiegand was perfect on the day with two singles, a double, and two triples. John Leone had four hits in four at bats to help his team. Roger Duncan and Randy Bowen chipped in three hits each in the loss.
Babiarz Law bested Palm Ridge Dental 15-12 thanks to the four hits by Chuck Mays and Bob Winder.
Ev Rhyner and Carlos Lopez added three hits each. Palm Ridge had John Goulet with four hits. Ed Haith and Gary Nicolay had two hits including three run homers for each. Also with two hits were: Ed DeMaio, George Loew, and Bobby Green.
Harlan Insurance took Arden Jewelers out of the championship picture with a 11-8 win.
Harlan had a balanced attack as eight players had two hits each. Arden had three hits from lead off batter Pat Perkins, including a three run homer in the 6th. Mark Hildebrand, Rod Severson, Larry Williams, Tom Bortle, Al Mahar, and Dan MacPherson all had two hits in the loss.
Post season tournament play begins Tuesday the 29th with seven games to be played.
