An 18-year-old on a motorcycle was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a traffic stop on County Road 466A and Canal Street in The Villages.
Patrick Dale Ortwein of Summerfield had been riding a red Kawasaki motorcycle when he was stopped at 1:45 p.m. by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy who discovered that Ortwein did not have a motorcycle endorsement.
He was placed under arrest on a charge of operating a motorcycle without a license. The deputy also found that Ortwein has been in a pretrial diversion case in Marion County in connection with theft and fraud charges.
He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released at 3 p.m. Thursday after posting bond.
