The Christmas rush in on in The Villages – at least for entertainment.
The first week in December is filled with holiday music, dance and spectacle. Here are some highlights:
“Home For Christmas,” Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Savannah Center.
Sue Schuler leads the production, which includes about 50 Villagers. Other performers include John Rogerson, Bill Davis, Andy Malinosky, Mollie McCarthy and Jennifer Slayton. Also, three dance clubs will perform: Dance Fusion, Dance Synergy and Aloha ‘O Ka Hula.
“Old Fashioned Holliday Caroling Party,” Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Lake Miona Recreation Center.
Local performer Jim Beddia formed the “Yule Sing-a-Long Club” in The Villages six years ago. The club raises money for the Central Florida USO and will hold its annual Christmas sing on Saturday. Tickets are $10 and singers are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks to the party. For information: [email protected].
“Christmas with the Castas,” Saturday at 7 p.m. in the American Legion Post 347, 699 W Lady Lake Blvd.
Suzie Casta has long been one of the most popular singers here and every holiday season she puts on a special concert with her father Sal. These Castas give the holidays some New York City — make that Brooklyn – spice.
“Tony Kenny Presents Christmas Time in Ireland,” Sunday at 5 and 7:30 p.m. in the Savannah Center.
This is what a traditional Irish Christmas is all about with singing, dancing, comedy and holiday music. Kenny is one of Ireland’s most popular singers and he will be joined comic George Casey, the Dublin Trinity Band and the Dublin City Dancers, led by Sarah Costello. Victoria Kenny, Tony’s daughter, will also be singing Irish favorites.
The Heart of Florida Chorus presents “An Acapella Christmas,” Sunday at 6 p.m. in the New Covenant United Methodist Church.
Scott Werner directs the Heart of Florida Barbershop Chorus in a concert that will benefit the Villages High School Music Boosters Scholarship Program.
“Bowzer’s Rock N Roll Party” Hosted by Rocky and the Rollers, Monday in the Savannah Center at 5 and 8 p.m.
John “Bowzer” Bauman loves to grease for peace during the holiday season. The former Sha Na Na singer puts on a show filled with oldies, doo-wop, classical piano, spirituals and old-fashioned carols.
The Villages Pop Chorus “Gettin’ In The Mood For Christmas” Monday at 3 and 6 p.m. in the North Lake Presbyterian Church.
Bill Davis and his 150-member pop chorus create a joyous holiday mood with two sold out performances.
