Fross & Fross woke up their bats and defeated 6th seed Babiarz Law 21-19.
Sub, Tim Wilcox, and pitcher, Jim Joseph, led Fross with four hits each. Dave Pope and manager, Al Deibler, chipped in three hits apiece. Babiarz got five hits from Craig Dahlquist and four from Ed Moriarity and Ev Rhyner. Bob Winder, Terry Yanny, Don Evans, Bud Ramsey, and Ed Konopka got three hits each in the loss.
Humana just got by Buffalo Crossings with a walk off single by Paul Justice driving in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Dave Oatley had four hits to lead Humana and Chuck Bowman had three. Tom McGann, Bob Roth, and Justice chipped in two hits for the winners. Buffalo Crossings’ Randy Bowen, Joe Cataldi, and Gary Lewis all had three hits. Contributing two hits were: Phil Palma, Roger Duncan, Jim Wiegand, Jack Coit, and sub, Mark Hildebrand.
Palm Ridge Dental bet Harlan Insurance 9-5, as another lower seeded team played its way into the next round.
Palm Ridge was led by Ralph Furbush’s 3 hits. Ed Haith, Gary Nicolay, George Lowe, Ray Bedford, and Dave Williams had two hits. Harlan’s Tom Ceglie had three hits and Sante Tulli and David Blandford each stroked two hits with Blandford opening the 2nd inning with a home run.
In the round of eight Softball’s R Game defeated Synergy Wealth 28-19.
SRG struck with 13 runs in the top of the 7th to put the game out of reach. Softball’s R Game got five hits from Scott Marshall, while George Kennedy, Duane Broschat and Roy Warter added three hits each. Vince Pezzulo had a homer in the seventh to drive in the last two runs as SRG sent 16 players to bat in the inning. Synergy Wealth got perfect days from Conrad Strassle, who had five hits, and Rick Duemler, who had four hits and a sacrifice fly. Rick Fredieu, Jim Glover, and Peter Davidson stroked three hits.
Top seed IHOP bested Fross & Fross 15-7.
Manny Sanchez and Wayne Mallory led IHOP with 3 hits. Gary Roth had two hits and two sacrifice flies to account for four runs batted in. Denis Hodge drove in three runs with a triple in the 6th inning. Paul Schaffer had a grand slam in the third. Fross had three hits from Bob Fowler, and two hits each by: Ron Rowe, Jim Joseph, Carl McWilliams, and Craig Dahlquist.
Palm Ridge Dental defeated the number two seed, Paul Davis Restorations 14-11.
Gary Nicolay, Ed DeMaio, and George Loew each had three hits to pace Palm Ridge. John Goulet, Dave Williams and Bob Green had two hits each. Paul Davis got three hits from Bob Kelly and Bill Nisbet, while Jeff Bekasi, Bob Buchanan, Don Mulneix, Jim Harrison and Duane Miller all had two hits.
Arden Jewelers had to go eight innings to get by Humana 20-19.
Rod Severson led Arden with four hits, three were triples, as he drove in five runs. Also stroking four hits were: Tom Farrell and Dick Adams, who had the walk off single. Pounding out three hits for Arden were: Pat Perkins, Mark Hildebrand, Al Mahar, and Tom Bortle. Bill Reed drove in the 9th and 10th runs in the bottom of the 7th with a two run homer.
