A woman who had her 2-year-old child in a stroller with her when she allegedly stole swimwear from Belk will have to answer in court to a charge of retail theft.
Kerrie Leah Connors, 41, of Lady Lake entered the store at La Plaza Grande in The Villages at about 6:30 p.m. Feb. 24 pushing the baby stroller, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
A loss prevention officer at the store spotted Connors selecting infant swimwear and then concealing it in the stroller, the report indicated. She then left the store without paying for it. The loss prevention officer stopped Connors in the parking lot.
The item was valued at $34.
Connors was issued a notice to appear on a charge of retail theft. She was also told to stay out of Belk.
