A Lady Lake couple arrested in January after firing guns at a hot water tank in the middle of the night have been ordered by a judge to stay away from alcohol.
Police had responded in January to a residence at 322 Griffin View Drive after gunshots were heard. They arrested 29-year-old Clifford A. Boyce and 27-year-old Kari L. Coleman, who had been drinking and shooting at a hot water tank in the front of the residence. They surrendered two 12-gauge shotguns. Both were charged with discharging a firearm in public. Boyce was also charged with being in possession of a short-barreled shotgun.
On Friday in Lake County Court, Coleman was placed on six months probation in the case. She was ordered to complete a weapons safety course, to perform 25 hours of community service and forbidden to consume or possess alcohol or illicit drugs.
Earlier this month, Boyce entered a plea of no contest in the case and was placed on 36 months probation. He was ordered to surrender all firearms and complete a firearms safety class. He was ordered to seek alcohol evaluation and follow recommended treatment.
