Scarlett Johansson is a beautiful woman. Clad in a skin tight body suit, she is gorgeous. The report that she was paid a signing bonus of $10 million for the lead role in “Ghost in the Shell” is probably true and she may be worth every penny of it if the box office receipts are on target.  Unfortunately, that said, there are few other redeeming features in this film.

“Ghost…” is an action packed sci-fi flick.  Johansson is a Major in the armed forces.  She has been reconstructed with a new “snapped-in” brain to mechanically follow instructions from an evil controller known as Kuze.  Enough of her holistic brain remains that she questions the morality of her commander.  She finds help in a side-kick named Batou (Pilou Asbaek) whose eyes are reconfigured.

Background escapades and music will remind you of “Star Wars”.  Non-stop cosmic action fills much of the screen time and are often beyond my sphere of comprehension.

Seeing Johansson flying around in a jump suit like Superman may be worth the ticket price, but for me the movie is a disappointment and only gets a D rating.  It is currently playing at The Rialto Theater in The Villages.
