The Easter Bunny made a surprise visit to the Largo Ladies Social Club at their monthly lunch gathering at Bacall Recreation Center.
While the group was gathered for its annual fundraising luncheon to raise money for the Villages Elementary of Lady Lake, the Easter Bunny went to each table handing out treats and hugs.
The Easter Bunny will be visiting each of the Squares on Sunday afternoon seated a top a red mustang convertible. Spoiler alert for those that still believe – this Easter Bunny is Village of Largo resident MaryKay Childress.
“Easter was a big holiday with my family,” said Childress. “After my parents passed away and the kids moved away, I didn’t want Easter to become just the two of us sitting around.”
She came up with the idea of being the Easter Bunny and visiting the squares. Her husband was game and became her chauffeur. That was several years ago and the Easter Bunny’s activities now includes some private events as well.
Childress relayed this story from a friend whose son was visiting during Easter.
“She said he came in the house and said to his Mom, ‘I just saw an Easter Bunny riding in a red convertible,” his Mom replied “Of course you did, this is The Villages.’ ”
