Joe (Michael Caine), Willie (Morgan Freeman), and Al (Alan Arkin) have a lot in common. They are all retired from the same company, and like to eat lunch together. Everything is fine until they receive notice that their company has been sold and is being restructured by a bank holding company. Their pensions are suspended indefinitely.
Joe has a major problem. He is supporting his divorced daughter and his granddaughter. Willie needs an expensive kidney transplant. Al is coasting, but is soon to run out of rent money.
The three witness a sloppy bank robbery. Why not rob the bank which holds their pension money? Their heist-comedy of errors begins as they wipe out the bank vault’s cache of cash. Joe calculates the pension money coming to them using actuarial tables and counts it out for his buddies. The remaining dough is distributed to worthy recipients.
Ann-Margret supplies the love interest with Al. The former steady date of Elvis Presley is just as sexy and vivacious as she was then.
Villagers are going to like this flick. All will be pulling for the trio to pull off the heist. There is a bit of larceny in everyone.
“Going in Style” receives an A, must see, rating. This is one too good to miss.
The show is playing at Old Mill Playhouse and the Barnstorm Theater in The Villages.
