A Summerfield woman is retiring after 57 years as a hair stylist, having worked both here in Florida and in Massachusetts.
Carmen Palladino has worked at Dottie’s Hair Fashions in Lady Lake for the past 11 years.
She opened her first salon at the age of 20 in 1961. She at one time owned two salons in 1973. She combined both salons in Foxboro, Mass.
In 1985, Palladino moved to Florida where she was co-owner of a salon for many years in Melbourne.
Today, her daughter, Lori MacAskill, operates a hair salon in Mansfield, Mass., one mile from where her mother originally opened her first hair salon in 1961.
“I still have many of her original clients,” MacAskill said.
